hey, were've been asked to give here more detailed information on our music forum as some people reading blog can't get whole idea of it. we apologize for that and feel happy at the same time because it shows us that what was used to be a working blog for working group is slightly turning to the propaganda blog, hurra :) and 1000 thanks to our dear friends at Laimikis, Ore.lt and Rokiškio balbo for supporting us! :) and many thanks to all of you reading us and writing to us. we appreciate!

Forum „Hush! Music…”, initially brainstormed by small group of people in Vilnius as a workshop on post-rock developed coherently into international and fully interdisciplinary project with respect to music, other arts (dance), philosophy, science and community building. We were encouraged by musicians, composers, musicologists, philosophers and listeners who share our idea that music can be discussed as a cultural text, as an architecture of sound, as alternative social structure (utopia in praxis), as a powerful force in society, as a meaningful phenomena stimulating minds of social and natural scientists and free thinkers alike.
To stress on a vivid bond between academic and popular, classical and contemporary, austere and entertaining music is one of the aims of the Forum. The inspiration for and the vital element of the whole project is an outstanding Canadian indie band from Montreal called Bell Orchestre. For Baltic audiencies their participation will be an unique opportunity to experience the most innovative Canadian musical culture that blows minds now all over the world.
Concerts of Bell Orchestre with the passionate Colin Stetson (the brass, Brooklyn, US) opening for them will go as a musical part of the Forum right after the discussions will be over. Musicians have also kindly agreed to take part in discussions in all three countries.
The Forum is planed for September 2008
V 09 12 Tallinn (EST)
VI 09 13 Kuldiga (LV)
III 09 17 or IV 18 Klaipėda (LT)
VI 09 20 Vilnius (LT)
Participation in discussion-part of the Forum is informal and free of charge*.
The Forum is organized by volunteers and small nongovernmental organisations in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia with no commercial interest working through an open and inclusive Baltic Creative Network. For some of us the development of new links creating some common cultural space here in Baltics is very important idea of the project.
We would hope that young people studying music and/or playing bands and looking for new ideas as well as high school students and music teachers will find this project interesting. The information about Forum will be communicated through local community networks in all three countries.
We highly encourage professionals and students from other disciplines interested in music to join in.
please, feel free to contact us
